Cigar Snob Magazine

Honduras - A country responsible for the second highest number of cigars exported to the United States gets attention in this latest issue. The Florida’s Cigar Snob was distributed nationally for the first time this issue.

European Cigar Cult Journal

In the Winter 2008 issue of the magazine I wrote several articles. As usual I wrote my column, the Collector’s Corner. What was unusual was that this time I featured only non-Cuban cigars in the Collector’s Corner. The major finding of this piece was that serious collectors should not neglect non-Cubans when building their collections of vintage cigars.

Cigar Activism around the World is a piece that I co-wrote with Sam Spurr. It examines the consumer organizations around the world which are fighting for the rights of smokers in their countries. We focused on the USA, UK, Germany, and Australia.

Costa Rica is moving back into the cigar world and in this issue I profiled a company, Brun del Re.

There is also news from Cuba about delays in the Regional Releases and Hurricanes.

Cigar Rights of America in Florida’s Cigar Snob Magazine

This article starts by exposing a divorce case in Florida where Cigar smoking was used to remove a child from her father’s custody. The article then moves into a full discussion of the new organization - Cigar Rights of America. It includes an interview with Keith Park, the Executive Director of CRA as well as many other figures from within the organization.

A Taste of Cigar History

Florida’s Cigar Snob Magazine published this article in their September/ October edition. I recommend picking up a copy because it is beautifully laid out. The article discusses how people chose a cigar to smoke during the early 20th century and how they do today. It is based on a book called “Cigars and the Man” published in London during the ‘30s. Read more here.

Misleading Anti-Tobacco Literature

This is an example of misleading propaganda aimed to prevent young people from using tobacco. While the goal is not necessarily objectionable, what is inappropriate is spreading untruths about cigars and the risks associated with those. Read here for analysis of a misleading piece of anti-tobacco propaganda.

Aged Partagas Experiment!

On episode 185 of the Dogwatch Social Club Netcast Colin Ganley was a guest. Colin put together a cigar experiment designed to showcase how a cigar changes over time.
